A Message from Robert Pearl, MD
President and Chief Executive Officer
The Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group (MAPMG)
Fifty years ago Kaiser Permanente was created as a partnership between not-for-profit Kaiser Foundation Health Plan and Hospitals and the Permanente Medical Groups. Fifty years later that partnership remains strong and as a result, we are the largest integrated health care system in the country with the privilege of caring for nearly 9 million Americans nationwide.
Through this time, our members have trusted us with their lives, and fulfilling that trust is our top priority. As a medical group, we are committed to being the leader in quality, to hiring the best physicians, to protecting the right of physicians and their patients to make the best clinical decisions, and to being at the forefront of medical and information technology.
Over the past 12 months, Kaiser Permanente in the Mid-Atlantic has been recognized in many surveys as the quality leader in health care. We are proud that physicians in MAPMG have the professional independence to hospitalize patients, schedule surgery, consult with colleagues and prescribe pharmaceuticals without having to obtain prior authorization from insurance gatekeepers and clerks. We believe our integrated model respects and protects professional decision-making.
As a vibrant and expanding medical group, we are adding both primary care physicians and specialists on a continual basis. We are seeking colleagues who combine the best credentials with a desire to work in a collegial, group practice setting. If you fulfill these criteria, we welcome the opportunity to meet you and discuss the rewards of becoming a MAPMG physician.
